Neal's Yard Remedies Create Your Own & Super Foods Event

Neal's Yard Remedies Create Your Own & Super Foods Event

On Wednesday I was invited to celebrate the Islington Neal's Yard Remedies store's 5th birthday, along with a couple of other London bloggers. As usual with Neal's Yard Events these was a sort of theme or activity- this time the activity was to create our own blend of essential oils and use it for a chosen product. Last year I went to their massage event near Marble Arch and learned a couple of tricks, read about that here

As you might know if you have followed my blog for a long while, I am interested in both natural beauty products and making my own products- so I was super excited about this evening. If you follow my Instagram (link) you will also know that I will actually be studying Cosmetic Science starting in September.  (Check out ALL my DIY posts here

We were told a little about essential oils and their benefits and then we got to smell loads of different ones, choosing our favourites to go in our own blends. We then got to use them in either a body oil, body scrub or shower gel using NYR own product bases (find them here). I believe you can also go to the store and mix up your own blend using these!

So basically I just made a lime Shower Gel. Find their essential oils here. We also got our own hand made on the spot lip balm a la Neal's Yard made of beeswax, love it! I have actually tried making a similar lip balm before which you can read about here

As we arrived we were treated to this super yummy champagne with their own added special syrup mix (I believe), it was soo nice!

We were also introduced to some of their new Neal's Yard super foods. This is their chocolate with added Goji Berries (amongst other healthy things I believe). I am usually not a fan of fruit added to chocolate but I actually loved this and when offered, I happily accepted to bring home a few pieces.

We also got treated to some yummy muffins! Check out their page with some Super Food Recipes here.

Last but not least we got a very nice goodie bag with some items I am really excited about. As this post is already pretty picture heavy, I will save those for another post :)

Have you tried making your own products?

Eartnicity Mineral Eyeshadow Arabic Liner Makeup

Eartnicity Mineral Eyeshadow Arabic Liner Makeup

Eartnicity Mineral Eyeshadow Arabic Liner Makeup on hooded eyes

This is not only my first eye makeup look inwhat must be like 6 months or so (!!), but also a review of the Earthnicity Eyeshadows. I've previously mentioned them here in a first thoughts post, and I've done another EOTD with them here. I am also trying out my DHC liquid eyeliner (from this Goodie bag), which when I first tried it- I reaally disliked. It was really watery. This is like the third time I've tried it and I finally got some great results.

You can see all I used for this look in the picture below. It was a super easy and quick look to do and would suit most eye shapes :)

Eartnicity Mineral Eyeshadow Swatches and review

So what are my thoughts on the Earthnicity Eyeshadows?

  • Amazing quality, they are very fine milled and super pigmented.
  • I didn't experience any fall out despite them being loose eyeshadows.
  • I can't comment on staying power as I didn't wear this look out but for the hours I wore this at home, they didn't fade one bit

What do you think of this look?

Do you like makeup looks on the blog or do you prefer reviews or other posts?

Flat twist and Winged Eyeliner FOTD

Flat twist and Winged Eyeliner FOTD

Here is a FOTD from a few days ago. To my surprise I managed to stretch my hair so much from a twist out that I was able to wear it in a normal bun, just like before! As you can see I obviously managed to put my fringe in a flat twist but it was a little short.

Oh, and I notice a lot of traffic to my blog related to people searching for "makeup for hooded eyes", and I've noticed throught comments that some people would like some advice on this. Anyone interested in a makeup series with tips for people with hooded eyes?

The Evolution of Festival Fashion by New Look & Urban Styled Fashion Collage

The Evolution of Festival Fashion by New Look & Urban Styled Fashion Collage

Hi Everyone! Today I have got an outfit collage for you. My favourite clothing store, New Look, has come up with a sort of festival-fashion time line. It shows the main style for 10 different years, ranging from 1969-2013. For 2008 they picked the style Urban/Hip Hop as a few Hip Hop acts (such as Jay-Z and Dizzee Rascal) performed at Glastonbury! If you are into festivals you might know that there was some controversy surrounding that when Noel Gallagher said "Hip Hop does not belong at festivals", personally I think it does- I think there should be something for everyone. The Evolution of Festival Fashion by New Look & Urban Styled Fashion Collage

This outfit is something I would definitely wear to a festival. I have my favourite chain necklace (with the leopard thing in the middle, see here) from New Look already, I have a similar crop top and I have a burgundy skirt!

Check out my other outfit posts here. Funnily enough, my last two outfit were both wearing either Only New Look clothes, or mainly New Look clothes.

What is your favourite year and style from this time line?

Do you think Hip Hop belongs at festivals, or do you think that only one type of music should be allowed?

Palmer's Cocoa Butter Body Gloss with Subtle Skin Illuminators Review

Palmer's Cocoa Butter Body Gloss with Subtle Skin Illuminators Review

Palmer's Cocoa Butter Body Gloss with Subtle Skin Illuminators Review

This is a product I've actually had before a few years ago. Except for going crazy tanning 24/7 when it is sunny here in London, I also feel a need to be super shimmer lol! I randomly remembered this body lotion and went on a hunt to purchase it- couldn't find it in Boots and I couldn't find it in Superdrug. Eventually I remembered I had seen it recently in my local hair shop and bought it from there for £3-£4 I think.

Palmer's Cocoa Butter Body Gloss with Subtle Skin Illuminators Review

I actually don't use Cocoa Butter since it contains a lot of Mineral Oil and I find it kind of sticky and weird. If you want the effects of Cocoa Butter you can just buy pure Cocoa Butter and use on your skin (which I do). However- this formula is a lot better than the normal one. It does contain both Silicones, Parabens and Propylene Glycol but the two latter are very far down in the list. As you can see below in the pictures of the consistency- it is very thick.

Palmer's Cocoa Butter Body Gloss with Subtle Skin Illuminators Review

My thoughts on this? It is a heavy lotion, closer to a body butter with loads of gorgeous shimmers. It really is like a highlighter/illuminator for your skin and I would use this on a really sunny day, just on my arms and legs.

Have you tried this product?
What do you think of Shimmer lotions, & what do you think of the normal Palmer's Cocoa Butter?

Recent Hair and Beauty Products from NYC, Elasta QP, Skala, DHC, Rimmel and NYR

Recent Hair and Beauty Products from NYC, Elasta QP, Skala, DHC, Rimmel and NYR

Elasta QP Olive Oil and Mango Butter Leave-in H2 Conditioner- I really love the easy of a conditioning mist like these, I've had one before but finished it too quickly. This time I'll literally use this to refresh my hair and then use my normal oils and leave in conditioners.

Skala Intense leave in hair styling cream- I literally just bought this for the sake of it. Was excited about big chopping so I headed to the hair shop to buy something random. I like trying new leave in conditioners though and it was super cheap at £2.

DHC Q10 Base Makeup Foundation Shade No 2 (*) - Although it's a little too light for me, especially now since I have a tan, I really enjoyed using this the other day, even got comments that my skin looked really flawless! You can check out my FOTD wearing it the other day here.

Rimmel Exaggerate Undercover Shadow Primer: The only eyeshadow primer I ever used before was the MUA one, it was cheap- and it worked. But then they reformulated it, making mineral oil And petroleum top ingredients. That's like using Vaseline as an eyeshadow primer eerr won't even try it. So I asked you fellow #bbloggers and I believe sweet Shona recommended this to me.

Neal's Yard Remedies Power Berry Daily Moisture: I got this as a freebie in Style magazine (I think). It isn't a magazine I usually buy but I just bought it since I love NYR products but they are pretty pricey so I was super happy to get this for £2.50! So far I absolutely love it, it is very very moisturising- but I'd say it is more for normal skin as opposed to dry, as it isn't very thick.

NYC Smooth Skin Loose Face Powder: I got this for only £2.99 after my Earthnicity Powder foundation finished. The ingredient list is good and it stays on all day keeping your face matte as well. However, the container is absolutely horrible- it doesn't close properly and even worse- all the powder has come out to the top section meaning I spill loads of powder every time I use it.

Have you tried any of these products?
How did you find them?
