♥ American Apparel Glow in the Dark Nail Polish

American Apparel Glow in the Dark Nail Polish
How cool are these Glow in the dark nail polishes from American Apparel. Now, at least you can glow in the winter darkness (lol). Even better the price is only £9 (yeah I think thats decent considering you can't get these anywhere). Get them from the American Apparel website here.

I took these two pictures from http://store.americanapparel.co.uk/ and made the pic above.

On their website it says that it comes in three different shades: Jupiter, Neptune (the green/blue one) and Moon. However, it seems that the pictures on their site for the two light colours Jupiter & Moon are exactly the same- hence only two pics above.

Which shade do you prefer? Would you wear something like this?

♥ Liquid Eyeliner From COMPANY Magazine

COMPANY Magazine Freebie: 2 in 1 Liquid Eyeliner & Pencil Eyeliner

This review is way over due. I got this from COMPANY Magazine a few months ago. Usually the quality of makeup freebies from magazine are nowhere near great. After glancing at the short ingredient list of parabens, mineral oil etc, I just put it away without trying it.

Recently my liquid eyeliner finished and I decided to try this, and oh my was I surprised. It started with me swatching it, see three pics below this one. It literally stayed on my hand for TWO days. I showered, washed my hands over and over again- this liquid liner stayed on!

I love the result of this liner, it's easy to use, and the result is a very pigmented slightly glossy black.

It has got two ends, one being the Liquid Eyeliner and the other one a normal pencil eyeliner.
As you can see in the swatch below, the pencil liner is just normal/decent. It's blend able and works in the water liner.

This applicator worked surprisingly well, love it!

This is the pencil eyeliner.

What do you think of my results?
Did you get this freebie & do you usually enjoy magazine freebies?

♥ Smokey Blue

Smokey Blue

Here is a look I did the other day. I was inspired by a look I did for fun one day on my boyfriend's sister. It looked soo pretty on her, a lot better than it looks on me. I reckon it suited her skin tone better with the golden flick under the black liner more visible. Anyway, this is what I came up with.

What I've used:

  • Eyeshadows, My ELF palette (see here)
  • White liner, NYC
  • Black eye liner, MUA
  • Eye liner (the one with the flick), Company magazine (review tomorrow)
  • Bronzer, Bodyshop (see here)
  • Pink lipstick, Calvin Klein (review here)

Err. The GIF made my nose look patchy/orange lol. The picture didn't look like that before promise.

What do you think of this look?

♥ Winter/Autumn Essentials

WINTER/AUTUMN ESSENTIALS  I would be lying if I said I was excited about winter slowly creeping up on us, what is there to be excited about? Snow, freezing cold, rain, rain mixed with snow..? Anyway it is quite cosy though to have a nice warm shower or both since it is so cold outside.. and inside.

It is also important to give your skin some extra nourishment when dealing with cold temperatures  as skin tends to get more dry. It might be a good idea to switch your products from "for normal skin" to "for dry skin". If you travel by public transport often or your just prone to get colds- double up your Vitamin C and other immune system boosting vitamins such as Omega 3.

Here is what I use to ensure my skin never feels dry during winter times :)

1. Holland & Barett Vitamin E Oil, to take extra care of your skin, add this to lip balm, cuticle oil, hand cream or wherever needed. Buy it here

2. Oils, oils, oils! Definitely make your own oil mix, it could be one, two or ten oils. For a nice smell add an essential oil. Use it as a bath oil, hair or or instead of a body lotion after you've showered.

3. Body Shop Hemp Hand Protector, read my review here. This is amazing for anyone who suffers from super dry hands or eczema or other skin conditions. Buy it here

4. Neal's Yard and Remedies Bee Lovely Bath & Shower Gel, read my review here. Ahh, the more I use this the more I love it. It's so non-drying and smells like fresh oranges! You can just feel that it isn't harsh on your skin. It is of course sulfate free, skip the Sulfates this winter and you'll see that your skin won't be as dry. Buy it here

5. Tesco Slow Release Vitamin C, to combat those runny noses! Having colds can be really annoying and I often tend to get many throughout the winter. Continue to eat healthy and take your multivitamins but take Extra Vitamin C daily!. Omega 3 fish oil capsules can also help. This one is allergen free and only £1.99. Buy it here.

6. DIY Facial Oil, check out the recipe/DIY here. This is a must for winter. Use your normal face cream in the morning, but use this in the evening before you go to bed.

7. Burt's Bees Coconut Foot Cream, don't forget your feet guys. Cracked heels and dry feet are not a good look. Don't forget to apply lotion to your feet every day after you shower and use a foot cream like the one pictured ever so often.

What are your winter essentials?
And how do you change your skin regime for the winter :) ?

♥ Mascara By Novalash

NOVALASH MASCARA REVIEW I am sure some of you have heard of Novalash before. It's a brand that does individual lash, you know the ones you can do in the salon and they last for weeks. I am pretty sure thhey also offer courses making you qualified to apply lashes on other people. Again, my mum had this mascara in Sweden (she is a big fan of them). It is meant for you to use on your fake lashes, but after looking at the ingredient list I really really wanted to try it.

It has got Hydrolyzed Wheat Protein, Oils and naturals extracts in it. This sounds great!

This is my results. What do you think guys?  I think it's a great everyday mascara. It's definitely more of a length than volume mascara, after the first coat there was not much of a difference so you definitely have to build it up a bit. I always do this anyways so I don't mind.

What do you think of the results?
& whats your favourite mascara?

♥ High Street Vs. High End.- Make up Collage

HIGH END OR HIGH STREET? I put together two collages of makeup items I thought I'd love to have this autumn. The first one is with high end, more expensive products. And the next one are with really cheap and affordable products!

High End, CHANEL, YSL, SMASHBOX, LIZ EARLE...

.. or High Street, KIKO, BARRY M, RIMMEL & MUA?

I haven't tried these items personally but I would love to try them. I am so hooked on purple lips for the autumn, not sure why since I don't even have a purple lipstick.

Which set of products do you prefer?

♥ Max Factor LipFinity Colour & Gloss

Max Factor LipFinity Colour & Gloss Review To be honest.. I am not sure if this product is called LipFinity Colour & Gloss. It is another one of my mums products and I only tried it and tested it while I was in Sweden. I didn't get a chance to memorise or note down the name of the product though.

Anyone know exactly what this is called?

It comes with two different lip glosses, and you apply it using two different steps.

Step 1: A super pigmented base of colour for long lasting results. I think the idea of this is great, however I find it a bit to sticky and slightly dry.

Step 2. A creamy, thick, pigmented lip gloss to finish off!

So what are the results like?

Here you can see the two steps for yourself. I suppose you could actually use Step 1 only as a matt lip stain. I did find this slightly to sticky though, and my  problem with this whole product was that after a while, it sort of turned flaky and it just didn't look neat for long. I tried to rub it off but I couldn't lol!

So the conclusion is, yeah it stays on like glue, but it's also sticky and the result won't look flawless for that long.

Have you tried these, what do you think of the idea?

♥ OPI- MRS. O'LEARY's BBQ

NOTD- MRS O'LEARY'S BBQ Here is another great autumn shade for your nails. This one is from OPI and the name is Mrs O'Leary's BBQ, lol! The colour in the picture is actually accurate to the true colour, for once.

I am not a massive fan of OPI, at least not considering it's slightly pricey. This one had been my mum's and she gave it to me when I went Sweden.

Application wise it was very streaky and not covering at all after one coat. However, after two coats it was all covering and evened out.

What's your favourite autumn nail varnish?

♥ MUA Shade 1 Review

RECENT MAKE UP PURCHASES This is the second one of the MUA lipsticks I recently bought. I've already reviewed the deep red one and since they are practically identical when it comes to pigmentation, staying power and quality, I won't write that whole review again.

To read the review, click here

Instead I will let the pictures speak for themselves. As you see it is very creamy, pigmented and covering :) For £1 you can't go wrong right?

The lipstick on the right is the one I reviewed before here.

Have you tried any of these lipsticks? :D
Do you think the results are good considering this is only £1?

♥ CHANEL Precision Ultra Correction Lift- Lifting Firming Day Fluid SPF 15

REVIEW: CHANEL Precision Ultra Correction Lift- Lifting Firming Day Fluid SPF 15

"High-performing star ingredient elemi PFA* stimulates the production of tensin, improving the quality of skin's collagen and elastin fibers, and helping to improve their bonds within the skin to create a firm supportive network. Ultra-light, oil-free fluid, luxuriously textured and delicately scented, offers a visible lifting effect." - from Chanel.com

I am back with another CHANEL review guys. Check out my reviewed of the matching foundation here. High End products will not be reviewed on my blog often, simply because I don't buy them. When I was in Sweden this was another one of my mums products that I used.

Not that I need it, but I don't feel any firming effect. However, despite being a very thin cream, it felt pretty heavy when it came on. Slightly heavier than the Superdrug Simply Pure SPF Face Cream I reviewed here

Like any other SPF it has quite a strong white colour but it turns transparent as soon as you work it in to your skin.

Find the full CHANEL Precision Ultra Correction Lift ingredient list here guys: http://dailymed.nlm.nih.gov/dailymed/drugInfo.cfm?id=26209

I really like this. I like "heavy" face creams and it did get absorbed quick enough for you to apply make up. It smells pretty nice but most of all, the packaging looks so luxurious! It is actually super heavy due to the material is made of.

However, it is around £150 (for my mum in Sweden, therefor I think it's way too pricey. I did a quick search and saw that you can get the CHANEL Lifting Firming Day Fluid SPF 15 From Boots for "only" £88 from here.

What do you think guys? Have you tried this?
Would you buy a cream this expensive :)

♥ Your guide to pretty nails

YOUR GUIDE TO PRETTY NAILS

1. Vitamins Make sure you body gets enough vitamins. Biotin is known to make your nails and hair grow faster, but taking multivitamins everyday and having a healthy lifestyle will do. Even though you eat super healthy you might want to consider taking multivitamin since a lot of food these days are processed and doesn't contain as much vitamins as they originally would.

2. Nail Buffer Even if you constantly wear nail varnish or get acrylic nails, don't neglect your own nails. For super shiny nails use the "flatter" side and to even out a broken nail use the harsh side. If you have a problem with ridges on your nails, you can use the semi harsh side to gentle smooth them out. Do not overdo it though since it can cause your nails to get thinner!

3. Nourishing Nail Polish Remover Choose one that is Acetone Free & contains Vitamin E. Acetone is really harsh for your nails, and unnecessary since an acetone free works just as well. When removing your polish, generously pour some remover onto a cotton bud and then dab it onto your nail and keep it thee for 5 seconds. After that, begin to "wipe" the polish of. It's more gentle, and quicker than rubbing it back and forth on your nails.

4. Base Coat Always apply a base coat to your nails before using your normal nail varnish. If you don't, your nails can get stained. That is not the look you want to go for- yellow infected looking nails :/ The base coat in the picture is a two in one base & top coat and I am yet to review it.

5. A cuticle stick Once a week or two times a month might be a good idea to push your cuticles down. Some places sell "cuticle remover gels" and these are not necessary unless you don't leave your cuticles untouched for Months. Use the sharp side to gentle remove dirt from under your nails daily or as often as needed.

6. Hand Cream Your saviour on the go! Anytime during the day that you wash your hands, don't forget to use your hand cream afterward. Dry cuticle is the worst look ever and you want to keep your hand itself moisturised too. Using a hand cream with SPF might be a good idea as you are getting older. The hand cream in the picture is yet to be reviewed..

7. A Super Pretty Nail File Just for one reason- it's pretty! I don't even use this often, as I said, I only have it because it's pretty lol. This super glittery one is from The BodyShop and I think I got it on sale a while ago, see what else I bought from BodyShop in this post.

8. Cuticle/Nail Oil Last, but not least- the most important of them all. Your nails need to be nourished daily to not become dry and break off. If you nails tend to split easily, it might be a good idea to use one containing Vitamin E. Remember, the Vitamin E molecule is too big to get absorbed on its own, so make sure you mix it with the right oil. I've explained it all in this post: DIY- Vitamin E- Jojoba & Sweet Orange Nail Oil

What are you best tips for healthy nails?

♥ NOTD: Red with Golden Shimmer. Abalico Shade 04.

NOTD: Abalico Shade 04. Here is another autumny NOTD. My mum had this nail varnish and Sweden and that is also where it is bought. I don't think it's a Swedish brand but then again I've never heard of it anywhere  else.

Application? Great coverage after one coat, but it would still look better with two coats.

Shade? It is more of a deeper red than in the pictures. Also, as you can see there are golden shimmers in this but I have to say you couldn't really see them unless under direct light.

What do you think of this guys?

♥ KIKO Limited Edition Lavish Oriental

KIKO Limited Edition Lavish Oriental When I went to Westfield Shopping Centre the other day I completely fell in love with KIKO's new limited edition range. It is called Lavish Oritental and I made a collage of my favourites.

I seriuously want all of these, the perfume smells amazing, the eyeshadows were really creamy and pigmented and the holographic nail varnishes were only £5. The foundation is the only product which is not from the Lavish Oriental range, but I was matched with the foundation matching my skin tone and it seemed pretty great.

Also, I've never heard of a gel highlighter before, pretty cool?!

Do you like this brand, and had you heard of this range? :)

♥ FOTD- MUA Lipstick & NYC Shadows

MUA Lipstick & NYC ShadowsThis is today's face of today :) I used my new MUA lipstick which is reviewed in the post below. On my eyes I used my new NYC palette (in a haul a few post down). I don't use heavy make up daily and if I do use a lot of makeup I will use eyeshadows. This is my everyday "eyeshadow'ed" look.

I haven't reviewed the NYC palette yet but so far I am liking it. It really is the perfect to go palette, my only issue is the colours of the shadows arn't really what they look like.

♥ MUA Lipstick Shade 3 Review

MUA Lipstick Shade 3 Review Today I am starting the day with a review of my newest lipstick addition, MUA shade 3. It's a deep red, well it looks like a deep red. When you apply it, I have to say that it looks bright red rather than dark red. For £1 I am not complaining though!

As you can see, not exactly the deep red it looks like ..

What do I think of this?

I really like it! If you are looking for a creamy, pigmented and affordable lipstick- this is the one! It goes on smoothly and the finish is great. Staying power is good as well and when you do re apply the old layer isn't all flaky and dry (for me, MAC lipsticks do that).

What are the ingredients like?

+ Among the first five ingredients are Castor Oil and the 5th is Bees Wax. For the price I'd say it's pretty impressive for them to be that high up in the ingredient list. Vitamin E is in it but way too far down in the list, actually after the parabens.

- The 7th ingredient is Paraffin (Mineral Oil). You might know I tend to not use this, however it doesn't bother me too much since it is in a lipstick and Not a lip balm. Mineral Oil tends to create a barrier and not get absorbed so it kind of makes sense to use in a lipstick (no I still don't like it lol). Parabens are pretty high up in the ingredient list (in the middle). Not good! These can be toxic.

Conclusion?

For a £1 lipstick I think that the result, staying power and ingredients are super great. I absolutely hate dry lipstick so this is definitely the kind of lipstick I would go for. And I would repurchase it too.

What do you think of MUA lipsticks? Any reviews, if so- link them to me :)

♥ Benefits of Coldpressed Coconut Oil

BENEFITS OF COLD PRESSED COCONUT OILIf you don't like the smell of Coconut or Coconut Oil, do not keep reading as I will keep going on about it. I have consistently been using Coconut Oil for scalp massages for quite a while now. Being such a bargain hunter I've insisted on buying the cheapest one possible, which is the refind Coconut Oil from KTC (as seen in this post). That one does not have a smell and I remember googling "the smell of Coconut Oil" and I suppose I came to the conclusion that it might now have a strong smell.

Oh my god how wrong I was?! I bought this Coldpressed Unrefined Coconut Oil from a health store in Sweden. It smells aaaaaa-maaaazing! Sort of like those Coconut Cakes (Not sure what they are called). I might have to start splurging out when buying Coconut Oil in the future..

I used this for my scalp every day when I was in Sweden (I was there for 18 days) and I feel like my hair has grown a lot. Not sure if it's due to the Coldpressed Coconut Oil but I am sure it had something to do with it..

As I said, I bought this from a Swedish health shop. Everything in Sweden in super expensive and so were their oils- except for Coconut Oil. I'd say I got it for a decent price, about £5 for this 225 ml jar.

So what are the benefits?

  • Helps to fight off dandruff & lice
  • One of the few oils that really get absorbed by the hair
  • A great moisturiser for your skin, it absorbs easily and doesn't feel greasy
  • Strengthen your nails
  • It contains a lot of acids such as: lauric, caprylic and capric acid. As a result of this it Coconut Oil can be antifungal & anti bacterial.
  • Can aid digestion due to it's antibacterial and antifungal properties

! For those who airdry their hair: When you have finished washing your hair, massage some Coconut Oil mixed with Peppermint Essential Oil into your scalp for a really cool- non itchy sensation when your hair is drying.

Do you use Coconut Oil? & have you tried both Coldpressed and "Normal" oil?

♥ Super Glossy Bright Red Frm. DEPEND

DEPEND- SUPER GLOSSY BRIGHT RED
Look at how glossy this is. I bought this as a part of my Swedish mini nail varnish haul (here). This brand has impressed me so much, I had used it before.. but oh my! My varnish stays on for days now. As I've mentioned before ANY brand of nail varnish usually stays on for a day maximum on me. My conclusion is that it has to be the top & base coat from the same brand (two in one), I will show that in a different post.

What do you think of this shade?

I didn't have any reds but I suppose this is more of a summer shade, a darker red might have been nicer for autumn but I like it!

It lasted for at least 3 days with no chipping.. and it dries super fast!

No the varnish is not old guys, when I was travelling (in Sweden) I kept everything in make up bags so apparently this is what make up bags does to make up & beauty products lol!.. I hate stuff looking worn out but luckily I never usually keep my stuff in make up bags so no worries there.

What do you think of this shade? Have you tried this brand?

♥ DIY Hair Deep Conditioner

DIY HAIR DEEP CONDITIONER This is a super easy DIY for you guys. I have to admit I haven't used a deep conditioner in a long while. Before I used to always use them when I washed my hair, instead of conditioner. But since I found my favourite detangling conditioner from Tresemme I just haven't been bothered. If you are the same as me, you have a favourite affordable conditioner, but would like a deep conditioner once in a while, this is the DIY for you!

What is a deep conditioner? I don't know what it is technically but in my own words I would say that it is a conditioner with extra:

  • Nourishment (Oils, Butters Etc.)
  • Protein (Silk, Hydrolyzed Vegetable Protein Etc)
  • Moisture (Glycerin, Honey)

So what can you add to your own conditioner?

  • For nourishment: Oils & Butters like Shea Butter, Olive Oil, Coconut Oil etc. For an itchy scalp add Peppermint Essential Oil
  • For protein: Avocado, Egg (If you add egg, don't apply any heat to your head), Mayonnaise
  • For moisture: Honey, glycerin (If you have that lying around, I don't lol)

I didn't have any avocado, mayonnaise at this time and I wanted to apply heat so I didn't use an egg. Instead I used a conditioner containing a lot of protein. For moisture I used honey and for extra nourishment I used Olive Oil. This is not my oil of choice but I had some to finish.

Ps. If you have all the ingredients I listed above the last pic- you can them on your own, just make sure you blend them properly. Check out my DIY Protein Treatment here (using similar ingredients): http://yolandaas.blogspot.co.uk/2012/04/diy-protein-avocado-hair-treatment.html

Do you deep condition your hair? What do you use? :)

♥ Recent Make Up Purchases

Recent Makeup Purchases, This is officially the longest I've gone without blogging. I thought it had been like three days, but it's been almost a week. I always take pictures and stuff for my blog so I really need to start posting it lol!

I bought this Viva La Diva eyebrow pencil from a Swedish supermarket. It's a budget make up brand which I've seen, but not used before. I actually really really like it and compared to the Rimmel eyebrow pencil I prefer this one because the actual brush is really good.

The next thing is from the same brand and it's the Viva La Diva blue eyeshadow stick, get it here from the UK. It's creamy and really pigmented and so far I'm really liking it.

I am sure you have all seen and most of you tried the MUA lipsticks. They are £1 and very pigmented and creamy. This dark red would be a great autumn colour and I don't have any dark red lip stick.. however, after trying it- it turned out pretty bright red.

This is my favourite purchase! I love NYC's eyeshadow palettes. I have almost finished one already and I've had my eye on this one which comes with a primer and highlighter too. After googling my previous palette it seemed as though they only had this version in the US, so guess how happy I was to find this in Superdrug :D
This is the perfect to go eyeshadow palette!!

Do you have any of these products?
