Yuko Kokoro G Treatment, Yuko Kokoro G Shampoo and Yuko Repair Through Review

Yuko Kokoro G Treatment, Yuko Kokoro G Shampoo and Yuko Repair Through Review

A while back I was sent these hair products from Yuko to try out. I had not heard of the brand before and the products are aimed at dry and damaged hair, so I was happy to try them out. Here is a little info from  the Yuko website:

"....YUKO now has a comprehensive range of professional and homecare products and is used in over 70,000 salons worldwide, providing the very best care for your hair. It creates truly healthy looking hair and provides an ideal foundation for any style."

Yuko Kokoro G Treatment, Yuko Kokoro G Shampoo and Yuko Repair Through Review

Yuko Kokoro G Treatment "A regular use intensive conditioner that detangles, deeply moisturises and leaves the hair soft, smooth and strong, with keratin, sericin, algae, collagen, vitamin E and amino acids."  Despite the pretty amazing description, when looking at the ingredient list it isn't too impressive with several different Alcohols, Silicones, Mineral Oil, Butylene Glycol. As for a lot of people with Afro hair, this size conditioner literally lasts me for two washes only, and that is when using as very little as possible. It did make my hair feel soft after using it and I would say the slip (slip provided to detangle) was average. It isn't really fragranced which could be a pro or con depending on what you think, personally I don't really mind. I can't say anything about the long term effects, as like I said, I only got two uses out of it.

Yuko Kokoro G Shampoo "A regular use shampoo that strengthens the hair leaving it soft and smooth, with hydrolysed silk, keratin, sericin and algae." This too is not very fragranced, but it does have a slight scent contrary to the conditioner/treatment. It is a sulfate free shampoo but it still lathers up exactly like a sulfate shampoo would do, which is definitely a plus, I have put a picture of the ingredients below. It is a clear, silky shampoo and when applied it even has slip and I was able to finger detangle my hair when I shampoo'd it. I love the fact that it contains keratin as that will strengthen your hair and I feel like this would be a great shampoo to use regularly. Very impressed by this!

Yuko Repair Through: "Repair Through is a heat protector to be used on wet hair. Containing moisturising agents and amino acids, which are the building blocks of hair, it helps protect the hair whilst maintaining moisture and preventing damage." Not sure if I overlooked this info when I read the description on the bottle but I did not realise that this was a heat protector. As you can see when I took the pictures, the product was almost finished, I have since finished it so I will tell you how it worked for me as a moisturiser/conditioning mist. To start with- do not like the ingredient list At all, you can see it in the picture below. However this product did work great for me and it replaced the spray moisturiser I already had for my hair! It is very light and just leaves your hair super moisturised.

Yuko Kokoro G Treatment, Yuko Kokoro G Shampoo and Yuko Repair Through Ingredient list Overall? I would recommend these products for someone with damaged or dry hair as they all contain repairing proteins like keratin and silk. My favourite is the shampoo which is definitely a keeper. They are all very suitable for people with curly or afro hair like myself. Also people who have hair damaged from dyeing or relaxing their hair but are not too fuzzy with wanting ingredients to be fully natural. Another thing is that the information on the bottles is in Japanese but a translated version has been attached in the plastic wrapping.

Have you heard of this brand before?
What is your favourite product for when your hair is damaged?

Neal's Yard Remedies Create Your Own & Super Foods Event

Neal's Yard Remedies Create Your Own & Super Foods Event

On Wednesday I was invited to celebrate the Islington Neal's Yard Remedies store's 5th birthday, along with a couple of other London bloggers. As usual with Neal's Yard Events these was a sort of theme or activity- this time the activity was to create our own blend of essential oils and use it for a chosen product. Last year I went to their massage event near Marble Arch and learned a couple of tricks, read about that here

Neal's Yard Remedies Create Your Own & Super Foods Event

As you might know if you have followed my blog for a long while, I am interested in both natural beauty products and making my own products- so I was super excited about this evening. If you follow my Instagram (link) you will also know that I will actually be studying Cosmetic Science starting in September.  (Check out ALL my DIY posts here

We were told a little about essential oils and their benefits and then we got to smell loads of different ones, choosing our favourites to go in our own blends. We then got to use them in either a body oil, body scrub or shower gel using NYR own product bases (find them here). I believe you can also go to the store and mix up your own blend using these!

Neal's Yard Remedies Create Your Own Shampoo Base                                                                                                                                        My blend was a little bit of Ylang Ylang (spelling?) essential oil, Rosemary,Geranium and a whole lot of Lime essential oil. So basically I just made a lime Shower Gel. Find their essential oils here. We also got our own hand made on the spot lip balm a la Neal's Yard made of beeswax, love it! I have actually tried making a similar lip balm before which you can read about here

As we arrived we were treated to this super yummy champagne with their own added special syrup mix (I believe), it was soo nice!

Neal's Yard Remedies Create Your Own & Super Foods Event

We were also introduced to some of their new Neal's Yard super foods. This is their chocolate with added Goji Berries (amongst other healthy things I believe). I am usually not a fan of fruit added to chocolate but I actually loved this and when offered, I happily accepted to bring home a few pieces.

Neal's Yard Remedies Chocolate Super Foods

We also got treated to some yummy muffins! Check out their page with some Super Food Recipes here.

Neal's Yard Remedies Lavender Cupcake Super Foods Event

Last but not least we got a very nice goodie bag with some items I am really excited about. As this post is already pretty picture heavy, I will save those for another post :)

Have you tried making your own products?

&What is your favourite super food?

Eartnicity Mineral Eyeshadow Arabic Liner Makeup

Eartnicity Mineral Eyeshadow Arabic Liner Makeup

Eartnicity Mineral Eyeshadow Arabic Liner Makeup on hooded eyes

This is not only my first eye makeup look inwhat must be like 6 months or so (!!), but also a review of the Earthnicity Eyeshadows. I've previously mentioned them here in a first thoughts post, and I've done another EOTD with them here. I am also trying out my DHC liquid eyeliner (from this Goodie bag), which when I first tried it- I reaally disliked. It was really watery. This is like the third time I've tried it and I finally got some great results.

Eartnicity Mineral Eyeshadow Arabic Liner Makeup on hooded eyes

You can see all I used for this look in the picture below. It was a super easy and quick look to do and would suit most eye shapes :)

Eartnicity Mineral Eyeshadow Swatches and review

So what are my thoughts on the Earthnicity Eyeshadows?

  • Amazing quality, they are very fine milled and super pigmented.
  • I didn't experience any fall out despite them being loose eyeshadows.
  • I can't comment on staying power as I didn't wear this look out but for the hours I wore this at home, they didn't fade one bit

What do you think of this look?

Do you like makeup looks on the blog or do you prefer reviews or other posts?

Flat twist and Winged Eyeliner FOTD

Flat twist and Winged Eyeliner FOTD

Here is a FOTD from a few days ago. To my surprise I managed to stretch my hair so much from a twist out that I was able to wear it in a normal bun, just like before! As you can see I obviously managed to put my fringe in a flat twist but it was a little short.

Wearing my current every day makeup which is:

What is your every day makeup routine? :)

Oh, and I notice a lot of traffic to my blog related to people searching for "makeup for hooded eyes", and I've noticed throught comments that some people would like some advice on this. Anyone interested in a makeup series with tips for people with hooded eyes?

The Evolution of Festival Fashion by New Look & Urban Styled Fashion Collage

The Evolution of Festival Fashion by New Look & Urban Styled Fashion Collage

Hi Everyone! Today I have got an outfit collage for you. My favourite clothing store, New Look, has come up with a sort of festival-fashion time line. It shows the main style for 10 different years, ranging from 1969-2013. For 2008 they picked the style Urban/Hip Hop as a few Hip Hop acts (such as Jay-Z and Dizzee Rascal) performed at Glastonbury! If you are into festivals you might know that there was some controversy surrounding that when Noel Gallagher said "Hip Hop does not belong at festivals", personally I think it does- I think there should be something for everyone. The Evolution of Festival Fashion by New Look & Urban Styled Fashion Collage

This outfit is something I would definitely wear to a festival. I have my favourite chain necklace (with the leopard thing in the middle, see here) from New Look already, I have a similar crop top and I have a burgundy skirt!

|| New Look Cream Floral Lace High Neck Crop Top || New Look Burgundy Floral Jacquard Tube Mini Skirt || New Look Limited Gold Square Pendant Chunky Chain Necklace || New Look Navy Suede Fringe Back Pack ||

Festival Fashion Timeline by New Look

Check out my other outfit posts here. Funnily enough, my last two outfit were both wearing either Only New Look clothes, or mainly New Look clothes.

What is your favourite year and style from this time line?

Do you think Hip Hop belongs at festivals, or do you think that only one type of music should be allowed?

Palmer's Cocoa Butter Body Gloss with Subtle Skin Illuminators Review

Palmer's Cocoa Butter Body Gloss with Subtle Skin Illuminators Review

Palmer's Cocoa Butter Body Gloss with Subtle Skin Illuminators Review

This is a product I've actually had before a few years ago. Except for going crazy tanning 24/7 when it is sunny here in London, I also feel a need to be super shimmer lol! I randomly remembered this body lotion and went on a hunt to purchase it- couldn't find it in Boots and I couldn't find it in Superdrug. Eventually I remembered I had seen it recently in my local hair shop and bought it from there for £3-£4 I think.

Palmer's Cocoa Butter Body Gloss with Subtle Skin Illuminators Review

I actually don't use Cocoa Butter since it contains a lot of Mineral Oil and I find it kind of sticky and weird. If you want the effects of Cocoa Butter you can just buy pure Cocoa Butter and use on your skin (which I do). However- this formula is a lot better than the normal one. It does contain both Silicones, Parabens and Propylene Glycol but the two latter are very far down in the list. As you can see below in the pictures of the consistency- it is very thick.

Palmer's Cocoa Butter Body Gloss with Subtle Skin Illuminators Review

My thoughts on this? It is a heavy lotion, closer to a body butter with loads of gorgeous shimmers. It really is like a highlighter/illuminator for your skin and I would use this on a really sunny day, just on my arms and legs.

Have you tried this product?
What do you think of Shimmer lotions, & what do you think of the normal Palmer's Cocoa Butter?

Recent Hair and Beauty Products from NYC, Elasta QP, Skala, DHC, Rimmel and NYR

Recent Hair and Beauty Products from NYC, Elasta QP, Skala, DHC, Rimmel and NYR

Elasta QP Olive Oil and Mango Butter Leave-in H2 Conditioner- I really love the easy of a conditioning mist like these, I've had one before but finished it too quickly. This time I'll literally use this to refresh my hair and then use my normal oils and leave in conditioners.

Skala Intense leave in hair styling cream- I literally just bought this for the sake of it. Was excited about big chopping so I headed to the hair shop to buy something random. I like trying new leave in conditioners though and it was super cheap at £2.

DHC Q10 Base Makeup Foundation Shade No 2 (*) - Although it's a little too light for me, especially now since I have a tan, I really enjoyed using this the other day, even got comments that my skin looked really flawless! You can check out my FOTD wearing it the other day here.

Rimmel Exaggerate Undercover Shadow Primer: The only eyeshadow primer I ever used before was the MUA one, it was cheap- and it worked. But then they reformulated it, making mineral oil And petroleum top ingredients. That's like using Vaseline as an eyeshadow primer eerr won't even try it. So I asked you fellow #bbloggers and I believe sweet Shona recommended this to me.

Neal's Yard Remedies Power Berry Daily Moisture: I got this as a freebie in Style magazine (I think). It isn't a magazine I usually buy but I just bought it since I love NYR products but they are pretty pricey so I was super happy to get this for £2.50! So far I absolutely love it, it is very very moisturising- but I'd say it is more for normal skin as opposed to dry, as it isn't very thick.

NYC Smooth Skin Loose Face Powder: I got this for only £2.99 after my Earthnicity Powder foundation finished. The ingredient list is good and it stays on all day keeping your face matte as well. However, the container is absolutely horrible- it doesn't close properly and even worse- all the powder has come out to the top section meaning I spill loads of powder every time I use it.

Have you tried any of these products?
How did you find them?

John Frieda Frizz Ease Dream Curls Shampoo Review

John Frieda Frizz Ease Dream Curls Shampoo Review

Being through the process of transitioning to natural hair, and now being fully natural with a head of super curly and kinky hair- I totally love trying out new products. I wrote a first thoughts post a while back on these three John Frieda products, read it here.

Description of this shampoo from the John Frieda website: "Re-awakens and invigorates your natural curl patterns for shapely styling results. Specially developed with a curl-enhancing complex, targeted moisturizers and frizz-fighting silicone. Features a nourishing formula that's the first step toward creating gorgeous, salon-style spirals. Moisturises and smoothes the hair cuticle. Gentle enough for everyday use."

My thoughts on this shampoo? To my surprise, this shampoo is my favourite out of the three products so I decided to review this first. Looking at the ingredient list, I would definitely say this is a clarifying shampoo which usually means quite drying. I don't particularly mind sulfate shampoo's- I avoided them before but now that I use gel and products containing silicones- it is definitely necessary. When I washed my hair with this it left my hair super soft- like ridiculously soft. Initially I thought that it might have been because I had a lot of product in my hair or something that sort of worked as a shield from the shampoo- but now that I've had it for quite long I've tried it enough to say it is definitely the shampoo! Not sure what is the cause of that but it does contain two strengthening/softening ingredients: Vitamin E & Jojoba Oil.

Ingredient Check (Ingredient list here):

Mineral Oil (/)
Sulfates (√)
Silicones (√)
Propylene/Butylene Glycol (/)
Parabens (/)
Alcohol (√)

FOTD and Big Chop after 14 months of transitioning

Random Big Chop and Face of Today

Big Chop Natural Hair 14 Months Transitioning

Been MIA again guys, sorry. Reasons this time? Loads of 9-7 shifts at work, and then my blog was blocked due to malware on Google Chrome, but I finally sorted that out yesterday. Random as I am, yesterday when I washed my hair, I trimmed my hair quite a lot because my relaxed ends had been super dry lately and my whole hair had been shedding loads.

This morning when I unravelled he twists I slept in, I just started cutting all the relaxed ends off. That's it- that's my whole big chop story lol. I did the big chop to natural hair, after transitioning for 14 months I think. It's funny how the relaxed ends are really in the way when you are transitioning, even wearing a bun was really hard, thick afro hair in the middle of your head, and bone straight ends in the bun itself. Read all my transitioning posts here.

I will do a separate big chop post shortly :)

Today's FOTD:

What do you think of this FOTD?
And I know I've been gone for long, which posts do you prefer on my blog?
Any tips for a newly natural? :)

Miss Sporty Bright Red Perfect Color Lipstick Shade 058 Malaga

Miss Sporty Bright Red Perfect Color Lipstick Shade 058 Malaga

Miss Sporty Bright Red Perfect Color Lipstick Shade 058 Malaga

It has been pretty long since I did a lipstick review.. I believe the last one was the Tom Ford Violet Fatale which is another favourite of mine. I got this lipstick when shopping with Nicole from Nicole's Beauty, I think it was like £3 which is a great price.

I've only ever tried Miss Sport years ago, and it was a nail polish, but I was really drawn to this shade. There was a point when I was looking for exactly this shade for really long- but never found the perfect one.

Miss Sporty Bright Red Perfect Color Lipstick Shade 058 Malaga

So what do I think of this lipstick?

  • Pigmentation- Great, as you can see.
  • Staying power- I'd say is better than average, but not amazing. Definitely lasts a good 4-5 hours, even when eating.
  • Price- Well I personally think £3 for such a pigmented lipstick.
  • Smell- It smells amazing, of watermelon! Which is super random as it doesn't say anything about that.

What do you think of this lipstick?
& have you tried this or anything else from this brand?

Fragrance Candles, Vanilla, Strawberry Skittles, Rainbow airfreshener, Orchid and sweet coconut,
Organic Neal's Yard Remedies

It has definitely been long since I last wrote an interior related post. In the beginning when I first started my blog, I have definitely blogged about my love for fragranced candles a few times. But then candles just got really hyped in the blogger community with those Yankee candles, and I am not one to jump on a hype! Anyway, here are my current candles.

Kiko Dark Pink Nail Polish

This is a nail polish that I first showed in an INGLOT nail polish haul. I never really got around to using this nail polish, probably because I already had one pretty similar shade already.

However, I wore it last week (yes week!), and it lasted chip free for 3 days plus. This never happens to me. I think it was a mix between good staying power, the top coat I used and me applying a layer of top coat every day!

It was really hard to catch this shade on picture, it is more of a cool shade rather than warm. Either it's definitely a new favourite as I was able to enjoy a prrfect mani for almost a whole working week :)

Also, this week I am starting to blog properly again with one post scheduled for every day of the week!

What do you think of this shade, and have you tried KIKO nail polishes?

Very Random Recent Favourites, Perfume, Lipstick, Hair Products, Skin Care & Makeup

Very Random Recent Favourites, Perfume, Lipstick, Hair Products, Skin Care & Makeup

1. Miss Sporty Perfect Colours Lipstick, shade 058 Malaga- I actually haven't had this for long, nor tried it more than once but I am really impressed with it. The shade is a very bright red, orangy shade and I just felt like it stayed on for so long. Well I stayed on for a whole work day without re applying (bare in mind that is through 3 cups of hot chocolate, 3 cups of tea, countless cups of water, 2 rounds of snacking and one lunch). And the fact that it was a bit under £3 I think makes it even better. Oh, and it smells of melon, so much that I can smell it when wearing it, yummy!

2. DHC Mascara Perfect Pro Double Protection Mascara (*)- You might or might not have seen my review on this mascara here. Definitely check it out to see how long my lashes are when wearing this! I really really love it and I think I might have to purchase it when it finishes.

3. Earthnicity Powder Mineral Foundation, shade Warm Caramel (*)- I have previously mentioned this in a post about my (then) new Earthnicity products here. As I mentioned there, I had never tried a powder foundation before but I'd been wanting to. It definitely exceeded my expectations and despite me being a non- foundation wearer prior to trying this out- I've been wearing it every day since I got it. I will definitely purchase this when it runs out.

4, Beautiful Textures Moisture Butter Whipped Curl Creme- This is a hair product I bought fairly recently because I am forever searching for the perfect leave in conditioner/moisturiser. It was only £3.49 which I think it is great for 226 grams (god knows why they couldn't just put that in ml), but you can see that it is a big jar. It smells amazing and contains a lot of oils and butters like Olive Oil, Argan Oil, Coconut Oil and Shea Butter. It does contain silicones but no mineral oil or parabens.

5. Rihanna Nude, Perfume- Ever since Rihanna first released her perfume Rebl Fleur, which is the same kind of bottle but in gold/black colours- I've been wanting it. But stingy is I am I never got it. So I got this (well I chose it) as a birthday present from my lovely Granny, and I love it! i used so much that it is already finished though.

6. Boots, Witch Hazel Gel- A gel consisting of witch hazel, glycerin an alcohol. Super cheap and great for treating unclear skin! This only cost £1.99 and I don't think a lot of people know about it. Great alternative to expensive "blemish sticks" and all of these Witch hazel products.

7. Make up Store, Pink Powder Brush- I randomly got this in Sweden, super expensive at (£20), at first I sort of felt likeI had wasted my money. But to be fair I didn't have a chance to use it properly as I didn't even had any powder or powder foundation. That was until I got the chance to try the amazing Earthnicity Mineral Foundation (number 3 above). Now I absolutely love them both!

Have you tried any of these?

A Curly and Shimmer Fotd

A Curly and Shimmer Fotd

Here is a FOTD (I am not going to lie, this was a while ago). I started wearing winged eye liner quite a lot about a month ago, and this is what it looked like. I used my favourite from 2True- it stays on all day and is so affordable. My blusher and highlighter is fromt he Sleek Face Form (see here). My hair was like 11-12 post relaxer (it is now 13) and I was wearing my recent favourite- flat twist out (see here).
